Meet the Board of Directors

The board of directors is accountable to the club members. It is responsible for managing and supervising the activities and affairs of the club. Generally, the directors are elected by the members, and the members are admitted by the board (in accordance with the by-laws set out by Hoo-Hoo International). All board positions are volunteer roles.

Vice President - Mendo Mill & Lumber Company

"With well over 40 years in this industry, I still love it and the people I work with. I have been happily married for almost an equal amount of time to my lovely Lori and we have three boys all grown and out of the house. I love the outdoors—hunting, fishing, hiking—and I am a great cook! I currently serve as vice president for Black Bart's Board of Directors, represent Jurisdiction 6 as Supreme Nine, and am proud to be the second vice president of Hoo-Hoo International for 2024. Busy? You could say so, but it's a joy to give back to the industry that has given so much to me and my family."

Owner – By Design

"Growing up in the heart of the Redwoods in Northern California, who knew I would one day fall for a lumberman and be introduced to this crazy old fraternity called Hoo-Hoo. Fast-forward almost three decades, my love for the people and traditions of this grand old Order are deeper than ever. As the Designer/Editor Emeritus of the Hoo-Hoo International "Log & Tally" magazine, I continue my career as a graphic designer who loves making art, making good food for family and friends, making divots on the golf course, and of course, making room each night for our two Jack Russell terriers."

President – Noyo Timber, Land, & Investments

"I got my first paycheck at 11 working for my parents at Foster Lumber in Vallejo, California. I went on to own that company and I sold it to retire in 2018. However, once a lumberman always a lumberman which prompted me to start Noyo Timber to help source hard-to-find specialty wood products for customers across the nation. I joined Black Bart Hoo-Hoo in 1974 and served on the board and as its president multiple times. My involvement extended to the international board where I was the Supreme Nine for Jurisdiction 6 on different occasions and elected Snark of the Universe for two terms from 2004–2006. The opportunities and friendships I've had in the last 50+ years of being a Hoo-Hoo are immeasurable. As the saying goes, you get out what you put into something—what I've gotten is more than my young self could ever have imagined."

Outdoor Sales Representative - Kimball Midwest

I am fortunate to of had people like Jeff Ward be a mentor to me in the Lumber industry as well as bringing me in as a member of Hoo Hoo.  I spend a good part of my work days interacting with those in the lumber industry which includes those in logging, milling, transport and land management in Mendocino, Lake and Sonoma county.  I am happily married to my wife Sandy and have two children.  I am very involved in my Church and related services.  My most favorite hobbies are golfing, boating, fly-fishing (from guiding others on the water to hours of creations at a fly-tying bench) and just about any other type of fishing except noodling... no way.
